“How does one find a space to share everything they know, love, and cherish?”
During the past few months, that question kept spinning around in my head without an answer. I knew what I wanted to create: a safe space to be myself and share my thoughts and “info-dump,” so to speak, all without worry that I’m spamming my friends and family. The problem I kept coming to was how to do it well. How does one sum up everything they love into one place and do it in an organized fashion? Surely it would be cluttered, scatterbrained, and maybe even boring to anyone but myself.
Ironically, the answer was right in front of me the whole time.
I’m the daughter of a blogger, the best friend of another blogger, and used to work for yet another blogger. I’ve entertained the idea of having my own blog, but never knew what to blog about considering how often my moods fluctuate. That said, despite my doubts, the thought has been on my mind increasingly often during recent months.
Funny how the answer to both of my dilemmas was each other, and how they both have been increasingly occupying my thoughts for months… without my ever realizing they may be connected. I finally put the pieces together fresh into 2020 when I was talking to my sister about my blog dilemma. I had mentioned I wanted to blog, the wheels of my brain creaking, when she said, “Well what do you like?” Bam. Like oil, the cogs and wheels started spinning, the ideas fitting together. The dam of stewing seemingly-miscellaneous ideas broke and I info-dumped onto her (Lol). Like the good and patient sister she is, she helped me organize my thoughts, all the while sprinkling in other ideas like flavorings to a cake, and before I knew it I had an idea, a plan, the skills I needed to complete it, and the passion to get it done.
I already knew it *technically* is untraditional to dump a bunch of unrelated topics onto one blog, but as an eclectic with a taste for the unique, that was a lesser issue to me. I figured if I was making a blog for myself, writing to those who are interested in what I have to say then they can read what they like and skip the rest. My central theme will hopefully be learning and wisdom, not unlike Wikipedia (which is a site that I love and utilize frequently). Like Wikipedia, the topics change, and people find what they need and move on. To help whoever is interested while being helped myself with an outlet.
My vision for this blog is put “Me” onto a page while possibly helping someone out there learn something they’d never thought about before. A place where, over time, my experiences and skills I take for granted might be useful to someone I otherwise would never get to interact with, all while being an outlet for my thoughts. A café sporting a large menu to suit whomever happens upon it surrounded by a garden of the flowers of my thoughts.
And so I sit here writing to you with my thoughts, beliefs, skills, and experiences. I hope you’ll pick a flower, grab a mug, and stay awhile.
“The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:Proverbs 1:1-7
for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
for giving prudence to those who are simple,
knowledge and discretion to the young—
let the wise listen and add to their learning,
and let the discerning get guidance—
for understanding proverbs and parables,
the sayings and riddles of the wise.
The fear of the Master is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
